Time to check what you’re covered for?

It’s all too easy to set and forget your insurance. But that could mean you’re not using your cover to its full potential, including claiming on everything you’re entitled to. Do you remember what you’re covered for?

If you already have insurance, but it’s been a while since you reviewed it, then an insurance refresher might be worth your while.

One thing we have all learned all too well in the last year, is that life is unpredictable – and it’s important to ensure you have appropriate financial protection for it.

With these ever-changing circumstances, it’s easy to set and forget your insurance. But that could mean you’re not using your cover to its full potential, including claiming on everything you’re entitled to. Do you remember what you’re covered for? Here is some food for thought.

Is your cover still right for you?

As we said, life is unpredictable. One thing to consider is what your current needs are, and if your existing insurance policy is still meeting those needs.

Have your circumstances changed since the last time you took out cover? Has your family expanded, or have your home loan payments changed? What about your income, or your savings?

Remember, a regular review of your insurance policy can ensure that you and your family are appropriately protected as your needs and situation change.

You might be missing out on a claim

It can be easy to forget what your insurance policy covers, especially if you haven’t been reviewing it regularly. As such, you could have missed out on a claim in some cases.

Suppose, for example, that years ago you took out life insurance and forgot you had trauma cover included in it. If you suffered a qualifying cancer or heart issue, and didn’t realise that’s covered under Trauma, you would miss out on a significant claim.

This is just one example, but it highlights the importance of seeking advice and regularly reviewing your cover on an ongoing basis.

Remember, no question is too small or big for us. If you’re not sure if something might be covered, please don’t hesitate to contact us: we can help you identify if you’re entitled to receive a pay-out.
